, that is a surprise because economists were expecting unemployment to pick up. president obama and mitt romney will both be campaigning in virginia this morning, the obama campaign took a hit with his debate performance this weeks this will give him something to crow about today. the romney campaign, mitt romney issued a statement saying this is not what a real recovery looks like. he goes on the say, the real unemployment rate is closer to 11% if you count the people who stopped looking for work. there is also a lot of speculation on line on social media this morning, that the obama administration could be fudging the numbers. we took that question right to the secretary of labor this morning. she tells us it's ludicrous to say the numbers could be manipulated. >>> secret service has new policies in place after one of the most embarrassing scandals in the history. it would ban excessive drinking and the share of work related information on sites including facebook. this comes five months after more than a dozen employees of the secret service were accused of drunken partying with prostitutes

their freedom to express their religion. the judge allows the banners for two weeks while he makes a final decision. martha: fox news alert. president obama is about to address the my jobs numbers. that will happen minutes from now during a campaign stop in the swing state of virginia where we expect to see him moments from now. this as new questions arise about that number. some people are questioning the accuracy of the 7.8% number that came in for the month of september. joined now by steve moore, a senior economic writer at the "wall street journal" and matt mccall the president of the penn financial group. good to have you with us this morning. let's take a look at some of the numbers. one of the numbers revealed in this economic report is this one, 114,000 new jobs were added in the month of september. some folks are questioning how you get from a to b with that 7.81% number. let me put one more number up here which may give some background information on this. employed part time for economic reasons, so people who took a part time job because they can't get a full time job we assume
the unemployment department on jobs. applications rose to 360,000. that is up from last week. a second report shows planned layoff 4.9% in september. yesterday the commerce department said factory orders dropped 5.2% in august. still, just a short time ago, president obama said today's report shows that the economy is headed in the right direction. >> after losing about 800,000 jobs a month when i took office, we have more jobs and we found out this link at the unemployment rate has fallen to its lowest level since i took office.
